Performance-based controller switching: An application to plasma current control at FTU

Abstract

In this work we propose switching policies among linear regulators for linear plants, with specific focus on standard regulators (PID), in order to improve tracking performances resulting from specific functional costs.  The policy proposed is state-dependent and its effectiveness is shown when implemented for the plasma current control at Frascati Tokamak Upgrade (FTU) facility.
